On May 5, Ombudsman Services of San Mateo joined more than 800 other nonprofits in the Silicon Valley to participate in Silicon Valley Gives, a day to raise money through one single online donation platform, providing a simple way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most and encourage them to take action. Overall, SV Gives raised approximately $7.8 million through 23,000 donations from 17,000 donors.
Ombudsman Services raised over $7,100 on that day alone (and there could be more if we qualify for some of the matching funds offered through SV Gives) plus over an additional $1,100 from donations through our Spring Mail Appeal. To cap off our day of giving, OSSMC hosted a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at the Foster City Recreation Center to thank our donors, encourage continued giving, and to perpetuate our mission of “challenging long-term care facilities to deliver the highest standards of individualized care for their residents.” Our guests enjoyed Mexican food prepared by La Cumbre Taqueria of San Mateo, plus delicious margaritas, drinks, and dessert.
As Director of Development, I want to personally recognize the chair of our SV Gives efforts, Avanti Kelkar, our board, staff, volunteers, and donors who continue to come through for us at numerous times during the year. All of us at Ombudsman Services truly appreciate those who come together on behalf of the residents of long-term care facilities. We go out of our way to provide recognition every chance we get-always a fiesta around here.
Please enjoy the pictures from our event. Of course, if you missed the opportunity to make a gift to Ombudsman Services during SV Gives, it is never too late. You can visit our website at www.ossmc.org and click the “Donate Now” button. Please join the fiesta!
